Bonita Hunt Mann (1888 - 1982)

Bonita was born in Windsor, Colorado June 19, 1888. She married Clair V. Mann August 29, 1906 in Greeley Colorado. They both worked together on projects and had shared many mutual interests. Bonita participated in church work for the First Methodist Church and rewrote, with the help of Clair, the History of the First Methodist Church Rolla, Missouri. She was also active in the War Mother’s Society, Phelps County Hospital Auxiliary Group and many musical endeavors. She taught private music lessons and sang in many choruses and choirs. She loved to drive and chauffeured Clair all around the country on business, historical, and family trips. For fun, she would take her grandchildren to race “dodgeum” cars. She also shared the microphone when she and Clair broadcast from KTTR from 1951-56, a series of half-hour narratives about the history of Phelps County. She and Clair were the parents of five children. She died on January 13, 1982 and is buried alongside Clair in the cemetery in Rolla, Missouri.
