About the Archives

 

Our Mission:

To maintain and preserve legal and historical records of the Missouri University of Science and Technology and its predecessors (Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, University of Missouri - Rolla) in its many forms; to facilitate efficient management of all colleges, divisions, departments, and offices records, and to serve historical research and scholarship. 

What we are and what we do:

At the S&T Archives you can find a range of resources including University records and manuscript collections. Also available in the University Archives are published sources on the history of S&T, and through the campus repository ( Scholars' Mine) S&T Holdings, and S&T News.

We collect and preserve departmental, alumni, and professorial materials related to our institution or work done at or with our institution. These may include photographs, audiovisual materials, and campus artifacts.

Where We Are:

The University Archives are located in Room G-2 of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library on the the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus. The archives are open for walk-ins from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and by appointment 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. 

Restriction Note:

The Archives of Missouri University of Science and Technology is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under FERPA, or Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
